DESCRIPTION: In all Jewish homes, the Passover Seder is a time enriched with numerous traditions, customs, and symbols. Among them, in the center of the table, is the prominent and beautiful Cup of Elijah, designated especially for Elijah the prophet. We are told that on the Seder night Elijah comes to each Jewish home to participate by drinking a bit of wine from his cup.
Passover is known, as the time of our freedom for it is the time of the redemption from the Egyptian slavery. Ultimately, it is a holiday of anticipation and yearning for our final redemption from exile. Because Elijah will eventually inform the Jewish people that the Redemption has arrived, it seems only fitting for Elijah to be with us at our Seder.
This 22 color Lithograph, formerly known as "Cup of Royalty" is accent with a matte metallic gold. It depicts the Cup of Elijah overflowing with buildings of Israel, grapes and the Holy Temple which Muchnik uses to signify the coming of the Messiah.
